“Of all our States & territories, only Victoria recognises that parents are fully responsible for the education of their children. All other states assume that the Minister for Education is responsible for the education of children. ”
In NSW the Education Act is very clear that parents are responsible for their children’s education and ‘that children should be allowed to be educated at home’ is one of the 5 principle objects of the Act

In reply to Liz. For an exemption for registration in NSW requirements are the same as for registration. BoSTES considers them both the same.

I know this is an ancient post (as far as the blogosphere goes) but I found it linked in your Aussie Homeschool post... very interesting and food for thought as we are months away from the time when our oldest turns six (ok so it's 8mths away but we have about 6m to decide). In NSW they have a provision for you to notify the state as an unregistered homeschooler (and that you don't register for religious reasons). Do you think it's much better?
