[...] When planning the curriculum for each child, I have learned that the best way for me is [what I call] the 4 R's: to pray, to ponder, peruse and plan. I tend to do that same thing each year- so why does the appearance of what we do always change? Because learning at home adventure is not static- because one size does not fit all, because each of my children are unique in their needs and interests, passions and gifts. A few years ago, I loosely planned out the years for each of the children until they are 16years old. It was a very loose plan with lots of room for delights, interests and purposes. I then broke that down into the various years. Oh, this took a real weight off my shoulders! You can have a look at my loose plan here. (I have also included two blank pages for you to print and use for your own homeschool needs) Where there are blank spaces means I don't have any set plans-I'm waiting and watching to see which direction we should take. That's a part of Identity Directed Education. This is only a rough plan. It is very loose and fluid and can be modified and manipulated as needs either change or become apparent. We still use Real Life as much of our curriculum as we can. It is a great teacher and facilitator! (For more information on what I mean you might like to read through this post.)
Hi Susan
Great idea! I wrote our report for the moderator in much the same way this year and it was very enthusiastically received (Starting with Relationships and having academics last) But I like the idea of converting my thoughts to a personal letter to my children. I'll have to put some thoughts to this!

Susan,

I really like this idea. It is so much more encouraging to our children to hear our words. It also shows how much we love them to take the time to write to them.

Blessings,

oh susan, I left out a 'not' in my last comment lol .... not to worry ;-)

Reading about your review I feel like doing the same but with going into a different 'school year' I am in two minds about when to do my overview of where my children are at. Might leave it until early next year, .... maybe. I appreciate how you put other life traits above the academics. I haven't yet been able to let that one go totally, having Marcel around does certainly help me to not worry about the 'A' word as much ;-)
