Goodmorning Susan. :-*

A great post - something I feel we need to be reminded of from time to time. We all have our 'sacred cows' (whatever they may be) and we all need to be reminded to take everything back to God, so He can prune what needs to be pruned. I have lost many a sacred cow over the years through this method. :)

My boys started work this week.. it's mid May. They'll work until mid September. A friend at service today asked me " Have you finished your homeschooling for this year?"

My sacred cow that I have let go of, is to think that all education comes from me, through books, or from curriculum. This is the 2nd year both of them will be working, the oldest has been working for 3 years now.. and I can not help but see that this is just a natural progression of their academics.. to now put it to use, and to gain more knowledge from their employers, not just on the subject of beekeeping, but all kinds of nature, and paying attention to details in order to do a good job etc..

I've never been one to "finish the curriculum" as a matter of fact, I can't remember a year that we actually did finish a curriculum. They do finish their math.. but not in a year.. just as they have time to work on it, they just keep working through it to the end..

I do hear what you're saying though, because there was a time when I was on a group, and they were really touting the "dresses only" and "head covering" and I started down that path, but my husband said he didn't like me covering my head, and he thought it was funny to see me doing farm chores in a long dress.. but he did like seeing me wearing the dresses occasionally... and so I stopped chatting on that group, and heeded my hubby's leadership over me.( and not out of being an oppressed housewife under the thumb of a militant husband.. but out of love and respect for him.. as he loves and respects me...)

Hugs Susan as you work out this thought process and come to a place of Shalom in your home..
