Oh Lina, I am SO glad to hear that you are going green ;) Let me know if you want some really healthy, raw protein smoothies that are green as I have recipes for those too. Might be good for your PT son.

Can you plant some greens in the yard? I'm planting in pots. Only just started but it's better than nothing ;)

Bless ya... lovely to hear from you

Hi Angie,
The more fruit- the tastier they are. I started using frozen berries, thinking that it would be nicer and hide the taste of the greens but we've found that we don't particularly like the berries. We prefer frozen grapes, bananas or raw/peeled apples!

They can be watery and therefore easier to *drink* if you add cold water. However my research tells me that the less water you consume with the actual smoothie, the better it is for digestion and absorption of nutrients. Of course, lots of water throughout the day is recommended and necessary.

So I limit the amount of water I use. This has the smoothie at the thickest consistency that we can drink it at. Your mileage may vary. It will depend upon each person... but there is no mistaking that we are definitely getting more greens and fruit into our diet this way... and it's not painful or hard.

In my recipes above, I rated them out of 5, using yellow stars. The Tuesday Smoothie and the Weekend Smoothie were the nicest. :)

In reply to <a href="https://simplysusan.com.au/week-of-green-smoothies/#comment-1988">Belinda Letchford</a>.

Hi Belinda,
I'm not necessarily noticing any difference... *yet*. But my health is very bad and my nutritional deficiencies are many. However, John knows that they are helping him. He has 2 large glasses per day! They are helping with his fatty liver problem, which tends to run in his family. Italians - argh!

The morning smoothie is breakfast- it has replaced his normal breakfast of bacon, tomato and cheese. The afternoon smoothie is an extra, which we have once John gets home from work. It's supposed to tide him over until tea time but we're finding that we're not really hungry after it so our main meal has become smaller! Yay!
