Something that recently came to my mind about Noah's story is this... we read in the New Testament "as in the days of Noah, so will the coming of the son of Man be" and yet it wasn't God's family who was destroyed in the flood, they were not taken from the earth. They inherited the earth. "The meek shall inherit the earth" And the Ark is Christ. We are safely in him when the storms come. and when I share the Gospel I make sure the entire point of the Gospel is the reconciliation that God brought us into through His son. Jesus conquered death and the grave. So we need not fear death. I aim to focus on the Victory.

So true Susan, and how often do we use our own lack of "goodness" or perfection to not do the job the Lord has put before us? It is so important to remember the "heroes" of the Bible were ordinary people who just like us, could only achieve what they did with God's blessing and help.

Jenny, thank so much for blessing me (and everyone else) with the study outline for this week. I do hope you'll lead another one soon ;)

I'm sorry I haven't responded sooner but I've been down all week with a slight infection. But it's funny because as I read through the study and PBS (which is not short matter in itself) I highlighted most of the same points that you did! LOL

I really enjoyed seeing how Noah was a sinner saved by grace, protected by grace, and preserved by grace. We can see that Noah had many voices in and around him seeking to define him. Voices in his culture, his time - doubting him, mocking him, and voices inviting him to partake in the ways of the world around him. Oh how I relate to this!

The Ark
I too saw how the story of Noah and the Ark is one of wickedness, condemnation, death and destruction. It is a dire warning to all those who refuse to enter the safety and protection of ‘the ark’. Earlier in the PBS, we saw that Christ is ‘the ark’. God has graciously provided safety and protection through Christ. He is our ‘ark’. We need to run to Him. Enter the ark. Hide ourselves in Christ!

And pray. Pray for our loved ones… for those that are mocking the ark or doubting or living according to the ways of the world, instead of taking refuge in him. Pray that they will turn to Jesus and take shelter in Him.

The Bow
So interesting to learn that little tidbit of information about the bow hanging at the warriors side. :)

An Older Noah
Despite all that he had witnessed, in his older years he dishonoured the Lord. He failed Him. This may seem like a tragic and depressing ending for the life of Noah. But we need to go back to the beginning of Noah’s story and re-read that “Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord”. Like us, he didn’t find favour because of his good behaviour therefore he didn’t lose that favour by his bad behaviour. God found him and chose him. God worked in his life. This story is all about God binding Himself to us. Nothing can come between us because God has done all the work.

We need God’s saving grace and we need His sustaining grace. I need it. This story of Noah whilst on first glance seems depressing is actually The Best News for me!!! Because it reminds me that it's all about God and not my performance. That I love!
