God Delights In Us

There is so much beauty in this video. So much for us to learn from. So many parallels with our life with God. The dog’s human has obviously done some work to collect the leaves and provide such a playful, enjoyable environment. And then the dog simply delights in having fun with what his human has provided. He isn’t exercising as a chore or duty yet he is using his body to its full extent – the way God intended. and he’s obviously having a boatload of fun doing it too!

And the human – look at him. Is he complaining about the mess? Is he telling the dog to sit still? Is he barking (pardon the pun) orders at the pooch? No,he is delighting in it all. Is the dog trying to please his human friend or is he simply enjoying life, using all his senses to the best of his ability? Delight all round!

This is how God looks upon us as we live the lives in the place He has provided for us. God delights in us. Our lives don’t have to be full of rigidity, somberness and dull faces. We can live life! And have fun. We are allowed to enjoy life! In fact, He wants us to. He is pleasured when he watches us living and enjoying life within the environment He has provided for us.

If knowing that God delights in me as His child, how does this reflect in my role as a parent to my children?

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness.”

How Do You Share the Gospel?

Do you ever struggle in sharing the good news with others throughout your day? Maybe you don’t know where to start? With the creation of the world or just hit them with their need for a Saviour?

Dr. Julius Kim, Dean of Students and Associate Professor at Westminster Seminary California, provides insight into how he shares the gospel. This is also a good video to watch with your teens.

And We Need To Accept Him?

“We have reduced Him to a poor puny Savior who needs us to accept HIM?”

I’m not too sure that Mr Platt is preaching a theological treatise rather a message to those who use this style of contemporary evangelism.

I was ‘born again’ in a Christian revival Crusade… and went from there to the AOG. I have raised my hand, repented, recommitted my life, been down to the front and accepted Christ as my Saviour more times that I can count on two hands and feet. And none of it was necessary. I was caught up in playing the game of church Christian but I was living in the fullness of the Lordship of Christ. I was a baby Christian, lapping up milk instead of growing and moving on to solid food.

Altar calls where the continuous call is, “Are you willing to commit your life to following Jesus?” or “Are you willing to allow Jesus Christ to take over as King and ruler of your life?”

What is really being said is “Accept Christ…receive Christ…make a decision for Christ.”

Where does it say in Scripture that a Christian is to make Christ Lord? When did accepting Christ become an evangelistic message?

Christ does indeed call us. But from my perusal over Scripture, He calls the one who is already a believer.There are calls to discipleship, calls to death, calls to sacrifice, calls to laying down one’s life, calls to obedience, calls to submission and so on…

“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as… what… Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.”
Romans 10: 9

Joshua Harris: Proverbs 3:7

Proverbs 3:7 says, “Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.” Joshua Harris uses a beanbag chair to illustrate how we often fail to “turn away from evil.”

As analogies go, it isn’t perfect in its illustration but the point is still real and valid.

Impromptu performances: ImprovEverywhere

Imagine being a bystander and watching this in real life. I sat here and watched it, full of glee, clapping my hands. Loved it! The Sound of Music is a long time family favourite yet I love what they did to modernise the soundtrack.

Fair Go for Homeschool Copyright

Years ago, like many homeschoolers, I looked for ways to be frugal in our homeschooling. I learned to use the library a lot. They have some great selections of video’s, DVD’s, and CD’s. Sometimes we wouldn’t get around to watching or listening to them so I came upon the idea of making a copy before returning it to the library. I even felt quite frugal while doing so. After all, if I had to buy that CD I would need to have spent about $40. But now I had saved that. Before long, I ended up with a stack of things that I don’t think I would have needed or used, but as they were free I might as well have them on the shelf, just in case. I had even lent out my resources, feeling fairly sure that the person was going to make their own copy! Thing is, I honestly didn’t even think that this might have been wrong or illegal. I know that sounds terribly naive, but it’s true. I didn’t think anything of it except congratulating myself on being frugal and saving my husband’s hard earned money. I certainly didn’t see how I was hurting anyone else!

Oi voi!

Praise God! He taught me the error of my ways. He did not allow me to stay at that place. He showed me my sin. I was convicted of my wrongdoing. I set apart searching for every little bit of illegal stuff in my house and then we burnt it all. It was a whole family affair. Something started fairly innocently. I did not set out to steal or deceive. I just wanted to save a few pennies…but the fallen nature of man, and the enemy that seeks to devour worked and saw me down a path that I hardly recognised…a path I didn’t set out to take, but ended up there anyway. Thank God that He rescued me from that path and put me on the straight and narrow.

As is often the case with reformed drinkers or smokers, I developed a hot spot (a bug-bear, a passion) for copyright protection and violations. I now stringently try to protect the lawful copyright owner and go to great lengths to ensure that everything I do is above board. I encourage others to always check out the law and consider the use of a Fair Use Policy. Copyright is far more than a list of black and white words- it is legal, ethical, moral and Biblical values.

Are You Really Saved?

This will only take 5 minutes but it’s good to listen to…and assess exactly what we teach our children. Are we teaching good manners, good behaviour? Are we trying to teach good fruit? We can’t! We can’t present the gospel message to our children…ask them to repeat the sinner’s prayer after you and then think they are saved.

When I listen to messages it affects every aspect of my life – my own spiritual life but also how I interact with others, including my children. My husband has often said, “We have nothing to do with our own salvation. We aren’t saved because of any decision we made…if we do, ooohhh, we’re on shaky ground” . This short message by Paul Washer goes into that a little further.
