I have been known to stop reading two chapters before the book ends. I’ll just put the book down and not pick it up for days.
I do that because I have loved being a part of that world, I love the characters, the setting, the story. And I don’t want it to end. Once I’ve read the last page, it is over. I can never again go back and be in that world in the same way and so I don’t want to leave. Reading the last chapter, reaching the last page makes me feel like I have said goodbye to a dear friend and I’ll do almost anything to prolong the ending.
What quirky reading habits do you have when reading a great book?
I will open a book at random then read to both ends. It drives mt children nuts. How can I do that? But I see it like a jig~saw. so long as all the pieces are there it doesn’t matter in which order they arrive.
I couldn’t cope with not knowing how it ended, I am not that patient. I have, if it has been a very good book and I cannot bear to leave its world turn back to page one and start again immediately.
Ganeida, that IS quirky! I am not good at prolonging the ending and have always pre-read the children’s read alouds for this reason. Just can’t bear not knowing how it is going to unfold. I find I am not reading much at all at the moment. I hope I will get back to a better time allotment
Have a good weekend Susan!
